Yukon Fish & Game Association News Letter
We would like to draw your attention to a couple of requests if you can help out.
Eleanor Frederickson is putting a dinner on for Learning Disabilities and is looking for some wild game roasts or fish. The event is Sept. 25, 2009 and her work number is 667-7901 and home is 668-8838. Her email is efrederickson@yukoncollege.yk.ca if you can help out.
One item that is difficult for some carvers to get ... and one they miss ... is caribou shanks. Many hunters I know leave them in the field. Some leave them on the quarters to bring their meat home, but discard them when they are home. They have many uses for this often discarded portion of caribou. Rosie likes the shank hides to sew. Fred uses the dried bone to carve ...he says it is snow white and like ivory. We are also looking for some caribou hides for caribou hair tufting or a sheep hide to try this tufting. If anyone can help with these please contact Joe Isles:
