Call for Directors and Volunteers (fishing)

the Yukon Fish and Game Association is looking for volunteers to sit on our Board of Directors. We are also looking for volunteers for various projects that we are involved in such as the salmon Coded Wire Tagging Program, the Wild Game Banquet, the Fishway and many others. If you are interested in being on the Board OR helping out on any projects, please let the YFGA office know at 667-4263.

Here is some background info on our organization; The YFGA has,

• Been in existence since 1945

• Been registered as a society since 1978, and is in current “Good Standing”

• Over 900 members, mostly from the Yukon, a handful from Western Canada and a few from the US

• A board that is traditionally made up of 12 directors and 4 Executive members

• 9 staff that consists of one office administrator and 7 seasonal fish ladder workers, and an Executive Director

• We fundraise with a truck raffle, membership dues, license sales, and merchandise. We also have a number of contracts for services, including the Whitehorse Fish Way with YEC; a contribution agreement with Dept of Environment; frequent Lotteries Yukon funds; and a DFO contract for coded wire tagging.

• including but not limited to: Annual Banquet, Awards Night, Fish ladder, Family Fishing Days, HEEDS Workshops, Outdoor Education Camp, TIPS, and Yukon Outdoor Women

• Our office is at 509 Strickland St)

• Monthly meetings that are currently held the second Wednesday of the month @ 509 Strickland St 5pm

• Numerous committees and projects, with meetings held on an as-needed basis.
