GOOD NEWS FOR YUKON ANGLERS!

While the seas of southeast Alaska have always provided great angling opportunities for Yukoners, it has been expensive! For the last number of years if you wanted shrimp or crab, or felt like tackling any of the salt or freshwater fishes in the state of Alaska or off its coast it would have cost you $100 US ($131 Can). If Chinook or King salmon was your target, you had to be prepared to shell out another $100 US for a tag.

Thanks to a recent reciprocal agreement between our Territory and the state of Alaska, as of January 1st, 2005 Yukon anglers will be considered Alaskans for purposes of fishing license fees. That means a license will cost $15 US and a king tag another $10 US …. The best news we’ve had in a while, and a deserving thanks to the various government politicians responsible for the initiative.

Alaskan waters offer all the choice a keen angler would want ……… 5 species of salmon, halibut, varieties of rockfish, dolly varden, steelhead, cutthroat trout, crab, shrimp ………. See you out there!
